Trade volume between Cambodia and Sri Lanka in
2011 reached US$2.989 M, down from US$4.125 M in 2010, Secretary of State Long
Visalo indicated yesterday upon the meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of
Sri Lanka Suwanda Hennadige Shantha Kottegoda after the Ambassador’s credential
presentation in order to discuss ways to further enhance both nations’
relations in the future. It is known that both countries’ bilateral trade
volume is still low. For this reason, the meeting was also aimed at boosting trading
activities, tourism and other sectors in order that higher trade volume could
be achieved. For his part, Ambassador further pledged to provide more
scholarships to Cambodian student or civil servant and Buddhist monk.
