Direct Flight between Cambodia and Burma to Be Suspended in mid-September

After 5-month operation, Myanmar Airway International is going to suspend its direct flight between Rangoon to Cambodia’s Siem Reap in mid-September from 18 onward, said Mr. Ho Vandy yesterday, adding that, lately there are less visitors from Cambodia to Myanmar than from Myanmar to Cambodia. According to statistic from tourism ministry, there were almost 3,000 tourists from Myanmar to Cambodia only for the first 7 months of 2012, up from 2,488 visitors in the whole 2011. As businessmen in tourism sector, he added, no one ever wished to see the suspension, and thus both private sectors promised to find ways to restart the operation. (Rasmei Kam.)
