Minister Chan Sarun Monday met with Mr. Shinichi Ishii to discuss a project
“Rice Husk Power Generation Systems Utilizing Energy and Environmental
Technologies”. NEDO associated with Kansai Corporation and Yanmar Green System
have jointly created the said project in Cambodia through ministry of industry
and other relevant ministries including the ministry of agriculture with the
aims at encouraging farmers to use local raw materials especially rice husk as
energy for domestic use, rice mill, coal production, and increasing arable land
quality, which leads to the reduction of cutting trees for firewood and coal,

Hong Kong Trade Minister To Visit Cambodia
Hong Kong Minister for trade and
economic development Gregory So Kam-leung will visit Cambodia today and is
scheduled to meet with Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh, said a Commerce
official. There are 2 main purposes of his visit, to promote economy and expand
trade prestige between Hong Kong and other regional countries such as Cambodia,

Oil Business to Start in 2016 with Concerns
During a
roundtable discussion on oil business and economic development organized by
Club of Cambodian Journalists held on 26 October, Civil society organizations
expressed their concern over Cambodia’s oil business, that is, they are afraid
of oil abuse and corruption happening after the first oil drop presences.
Cambodia’s oil business was firstly expected to start this year but then

9 Months of 2012, Construction Investment Increases over 80%
As of 3 quarters
of 2012, investment in construction sector in Cambodia increased to over 83% if
compared to the same period of last year, the time when there were only 1,680
construction projects, said the statistics from Ministry of Lang Management,
Urban Planning and Construction, adding that the Ministry had approved roughly
1,350 construction projects amounted to around 1.8 billion USD from January to
September this year. The increase was attributed to both foreign and local
investments in constructions including trade buildings, houses, flats,
apartments, office buildings, garment factories, hotels and restaurants and so

Bus City Trans to Start its
Transportation Services in Early 2013
Bus
City Trans, a type of bus with 25 seats, is being planned to start transporting
passengers in Phnom Penh and its outskirts so as to facilitate traffic and
reduce congestion in the beginning of 2013 after its success in recent bidding,
said Mr. Choi Dae Yong, Managing Director of Trans Choice Cambodia, adding that,
after its bidding success, City Trans Cambodia will have to cooperate with
Korea’s Busan Metropolitan City Hall, and he will act as a representative to
cooperate with Phnom Penh Municipality to get the services operated. Additionally,
Mr. Choi informed that the buses, from Korea, will be run by gas and controlled
by ICT and especially equipped with GPS. In the first phase, there will be only
70 or 80 buses available, running on some particular destinations. Customers
can use mechanical card worth 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 KHR, and this
system is used in line with Korea’s system. (Kampuchea Thmey, 06 October 2012)
UK’s Cattle Farming Company to Invest in Cambodia This Year
UK’s
Montbeliarde Marketing Company, raising dairy and beef cattle, has planned to
invest in Cambodia at the end of this year, the company’s president Mr. Malcarm
Pearce, who is going to attend a Joint Agriculture Expo at Koh Pich from 10 to
12 October, told reporters on 03 October, adding that he will invest in raising
cattle for milk and meat in Cambodia late this year through breeding UK and
Cambodia cattle. The investment capital hasn’t been revealed yet. (Rasmei Kam,
