A
Japanese delegation led by Mr. Yamada Yoritaka, Representative of Sekisui House
Limited, visited Cambodia and met with DPM Keat Chhon on 03 October to prepare
for investment in Cambodia in house construction and furniture production and,
at the same time, to inspect raw materials in Cambodia whether they are
suitable for producing furniture and other construction materials. The Sekisui
House Ltd., 3rd in world ranking, has in total more than US$2 billion
investment capital, and employs some 150,000 workers, said Mr. Yamada, adding
that his company is willing to invest in house construction and furniture
production in Cambodia. In reply, H.E. Keat Chhon warmly welcomed the company’s
field visit and expressed support to its intention to invest in Cambodia. The
construction sector in Cambodia is booming, said the Cambodian deputy prime
minister, indicating that in the first eight months of this year, 1,213
projects with the total investment amount of over US$1.5 billion have been
approved, up about 73.9 percent if compared to the same period last year.
